Frequently Asked Questions

Why did IDNPSA and AAIDN merge?

The most critical aspect of IDNP practice is integrating the holistic nursing approach into infectious disease care. We are nurses and are proud of the discipline! The American Association of Infectious Disease Nurses (AAIDN) is the new parent organization for the Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioners Society of America (IDNPSA)!

Is IDNPSA changing to AAIDN?

Yes and No. IDNPSA will be the advanced practice division of AAIDN. They are now one unified nursing organization.

Will this merger change my membership?

No. You will still be a part of IDNPSA, but membership fees will be paid to AAIDN.

Does AAIDN have a website yet?

No. We are currently developing the IDNPSA website and plan to have another site featuring AAIDN in the future.

Can I volunteer for AAIDN?

We are currently focusing on the IDNPSA volunteer structure, and as interest grows, we will be developing infectious disease nursing leadership and organizational committees for AAIDN. Can’t wait that long? Let us know here.

Can I volunteer for IDNPSA?

Yes. We are opening volunteer applications in early 2025. Stay tuned.
